With a variety of amazing things to see and do, it’s no wonder Tampa gets millions of visitors a year. However, this city is also a fantastic place to live year-round if you’re looking to relocate to Florida and get a taste of the Sunshine State all year round.

Planning on moving to the Tampa area, but not sure where to live? Here is our guide of the best neighborhoods in Tampa:

1. Downtown Tampa

Downtown Tampa

Downtown Tampa is the central business district of the city and is a great place to live to get up to speed on everything this city has to offer. You’ll be within walking distance of multiple great restaurants, museums, and cultural centers—and you’ll even be close to the famous Florida Aquarium! You’ll have many highly rated apartment buildings to choose from downtown, many of which offer top amenities such as swimming pools and fitness centers.

2. Ybor City

This historic neighborhood is located near downtown Tampa and can be a great choice if you love being close to vibrant nightlife. Many restaurants in the area are open at all hours, and it’s always easy to catch some live music. Ybor City also has a lively art district where you can take classes, and as one of the oldest neighborhoods in the area, it has plenty of museums for history buffs.

3. Tampa Heights

The historic district of Tampa Heights is known as a more affordable neighborhood to live in. Residents will find no lack of things to do, with many options for bars and restaurants between North Tampa and Ybor.

4. North Tampa

North Tampa

North Tampa is one of the best neighborhoods in Tampa for tourists, as it’s close to a wide variety of theme parks such as Busch Gardens and is home to the famous zoo at Lowry Park. This area is also very family-friendly and is home to many parks and coffee shops.

5. Hyde Park

If you pride yourself on keeping up with the latest trends and are looking for wild nights out on the town, Hyde Park is the place to be. This upscale neighborhood in the south of Tampa is famous for its trendy boutiques and shopping centers, as well as globally themed restaurants and cocktail bars.

6. New Tampa

If you’re looking to live in a more outdoorsy area where you can relax among nature, this area is a top neighborhood in Tampa to consider. New Tampa is famous for its wildlife reserve, excellent golf courses, a large strip mall, and plenty of local coffee shops. There are also biking and hiking trails if you’re looking for fun ways to stay in shape!

7. South Tampa

This area is an excellent choice among dog lovers, as there are a ton of dog parks along the coast that will let you and your furry friend enjoy Tampa Bay. South Tampa is also home to plenty of independent restaurants. And, as a bonus, the nearby MacDill Air Force Base even offers tours!

8. Davis Islands

Davids Islands

Speaking of dog-friendly beaches, you can experience even more of that fun on the historic Davis Islands. This is a historical area known for its pastel-colored building dating back to the 1920s. While most of the area is coastal, Davis Islands Park does offer a green area with play equipment, making it perfect for kids.

9. West Tampa
