Despite the countless attractions, eateries, and outdoor activities in Fort Lauderdale, FL, it’s sometimes the little things that give us the most satisfaction. Whether you’re embarking on a business trip, planning your next family adventure, or thinking about moving to the Sunshine State, be sure to pack your swimsuit, grab the sunscreen, and plan a day trip to explore Fort Lauderdale’s best beaches.

Deerfield Beach

Nestled in the northern part of Broward County, just south of Boca Raton, Deerfield Beach is loved by locals and visitors for its casual and laid-back atmosphere. At the International Fishing Pier, you can watch local fishermen reeling in native fish or rent your own fishing rod. If you stroll down the pier along the beach, be sure to bring your phone for one-of-a-kind, Insta-worthy sunset pictures.

If you need a break from kicking back at the beach, check out Deerfield’s seaside restaurants. At The Whale’s Rib, you can indulge in the restaurant’s famous whale fries. If you’re in the mood for seafood, JB’s on the Beach and Oceans 234 both offer a welcoming beach house vibe where you can take in the beach’s stunning ocean views.

Pompano Beach

Toward the southern end of Fort Lauderdale, you’ll find Pompano Beach, a wonderland for adrenaline junkies and diving enthusiasts. Pompano Beach is well known for Shipwreck Park, which is home to 18 shipwrecks—each as unique and mysterious as the next. If your schedule allows, consider chartering a boat, trying your hand at sports fishing, and exploring Pompano’s open waters for the afternoon.

Pompano Beach is family-friendly, with a kid’s playground, interactive water foundation, volleyball court, and on-duty lifeguard. Before you leave, make sure to stop by Beach House Pompano, a two-story restaurant and bar famous for its wood-fired grill and scratch-made food.

Hollywood Beach

Not to be confused with Hollywood, California, Fort Lauderdale’s local Hollywood Beach is famous for its 2.5-mile Oceanfront Boardwalk. Hollywood Beach is also home to chic beachside hotels, including the Diplomat Resort & Spa and the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort.

If you’re traveling with your furry friend, don’t forget to stop by Hollywood’s dog beach. Meanwhile, for a fun evening out, check out Billy’s Stone Crab Restaurant to try the famous stone crab claws.

Fort Lauderdale Beach

Fort Lauderdale Beach has something to offer for everyone. Located just over a mile away from the city’s famous Las Olas Boulevard, the main beach features a wide variety of lodging accommodations, high-end eateries, and vibrant bars. If you want to take in the beach’s picturesque views, take a stroll down the Beachfront Promenade—and don’t forget to check out Fort Lauderdale’s seaside restaurants and bars. The W is home to Steak 954, while the Ritz’ Burlock Coast offers a great brunch.

When you’re ready to get your feet wet, book a paddleboarding tour at SUP PUP Paddleboard, take surfing lessons at Hang Loose Surf School, or go for an underwater adventure with Beach Ventures Seabob Rental & Tours.

Lauderdale-By-The-Sea

The quaint seaside town of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea offers beautiful beach views that stretch for miles. Underwater, you’ll be able to explore a shipwreck snorkel trail where you can find the SS Copenhagen, a historic British cargo ship that sank in 1900.

If you’d prefer to stay out of the water, relax on Anglin’s Pier and take in relaxing views of the sea. While you’re visiting the picturesque seaside community, set aside some time to hang out with the locals at Aruba Beach Café.
