Moving to a Landing? What Our Members Recommend Packing

Packing suitcase with clothes before moving into a landing

If you’re moving to a Landing apartment in a new city, it can be tough to decide what makes it into your suitcase and what stays in storage. After all, you only have so much luggage space to work with. To help, we asked our members what they have to pack when they move into new Landings, and the response was overwhelming: Not a lot!

To begin with, Landing apartments are outfitted with everything you need for a comfortable stay, including bedding, kitchenware, and toiletries. All you have to do is bring your phone, some food, and some clothes, and everything else is taken care of!

However, sometimes our members bring a few things that make their new apartment feel even more like home. Here are some of their recommendations:

Toiletries and towels

Landing provides all the toiletries you need to start living your new life in your new place, including shampoo, body wash, conditioner, hand soap, cleaning supplies, and towels. To supplement this, our members recommend packing a toothbrush and toothpaste, laundry detergent, air fresheners, and a pool towel (after all, many of our apartments have pools as an amenity).

Technology

Each Landing is outfitted with a smart TV, but some members do pack streaming devices so they don’t have to log in and out every time they move. Apple TV boxes, Chromecasts, Rokus, and Firesticks are popular among members, as well as over-the-air antennas to add local news channels to the smart TV.

Some Landing members will also choose to customize their workspace by bringing items like a widescreen monitor, a custom-built desktop computer, a sit-stand desk, or a small, portable printer.

Additional pieces of technology members will tuck into their suitcase include surge protectors, extra HDMI cords, power strips, and a hard-line cable for the internet.

Kitchenware

Landing kitchens are fully equipped with everything you need to cook your meals, from pots and pans to measuring spoons to dishware. But, some members like to bring specialized equipment with them, such as a Vitamix, Instapot, water filter, slow cooker, tea kettle, air fryer, vegetable chopper, or mini frying pan.

Landing members also recommend bringing a few of your favorite specialty spices and favorite coffee—and wine. Lots of wine.

Bedroom

Each bedroom in your Landing will have a bed and bedding included, but some members will choose to bring a weighted blanket, their own throw blankets, plants, or extra sheets to make their bedroom even more cozy and comfortable.

Hobbies and personal touches

The best way to make your new Landing apartment feel like home is to save some space in your suitcase for your hobbies and personal possessions. Our members recommend bringing some books, photographs, and small decor. Others will always bring a bag of camera gear, workout gear and supplements, and their road bike along for the ride. You don’t have to leave your hobbies behind when you move somewhere new!

Kids

If you’re bringing kids with you to your Landing, member Bryan Conzone recommends bringing a couple of boxes of toys, games, board games, video games, puzzles, and a couple of sports balls. He also brings a box of his son’s books and homeschooling materials, as well as two small mattresses and bedding from his kids’ original beds (which are in storage).

At Landing, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to settle into your new home, no matter where you’re living.
