If you’re planning on moving to Dallas, TX, you’re likely trying to figure out the best neighborhoods in Dallas, and which one would be the right fit for you. Plano, TX, is a Dallas suburb that is known for its diversity and small-town vibes, with all the benefits of a big city.

Thinking about moving to Plano? Here’s our guide to the best restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, outdoor attractions, gyms, nightlife, and transportation in the neighborhood.

Where to go out to eat in Plano

Voted the No. 1 burger joint in Plano Magazine, Ye Ole Butcher Shop is a low-key Texas dive that has been a local mainstay since 1974. You can also purchase quality take-home steak, ground beef, and other meat cuts to cook in your own kitchen.

Whiskey Cake is an excellent farm-to-table spot with flavor-packed dishes. Try the Texas blue crab cakes and their half spit-roasted rotisserie chicken with sweet potato fennel hash. And, don’t forget to top it off with their namesake dessert!

A large Asian population makes this area a hotspot for cuisine from all across the continent, but Densetsu is broadly considered the best sushi in town—and you won’t go hungry with the size of their massive special rolls.

Where to get groceries in Plano

Central Market, Kroger’s, and Sprouts Farmers Market are all available for any of your grocery needs. For specialty grocery stores, check out Mitsuwa Marketplace, Indopak Supermarket, and Afribbean Market

Where to get coffee in Plano

Independently owned cafe 1418 Coffee Shop is one of this Texas city’s best hangout spots. Try the signature lavender latte at this lively joint.

Coffee and Texas-style breakfast is served daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at XO Coffee Company, a locally owned hotspot. With single-origin pour-overs and nitro cold brew, XO is sure to keep you caffeinated.

Drink your coffee for a cause at Coffee Del Ray. This cafe has a long-standing direct-trade relationship with farmers in the Dominican Republic and has proudly partnered with the local food bank for over eight years.
