Migas. Breakfast burritos. Texas hash. Austin is no stranger to a good midday meal. Here are the best brunch places in Austin in 2024.

Great brunch in Austin, Texas just makes sense. The city loves breakfast burritos, steak and eggs, and old-school diners where high stacks of pancakes and never-ending coffee refills are the norm.

Whether you want lunch for breakfast or breakfast for lunch, there’s no shortage of incredible brunch places in Austin. Here are 14 top picks for your next trip.

Austin’s Top 14 Brunch Spots

It doesn’t matter if you prefer savory fried chicken sandwiches, sweet pancakes with maple syrup, or classic Tex-Mex-style breakfast burritos. This city has it all. Here’s where to fill your stomach with the best breakfast in Austin:

1. Josephine House

  • 1601 Waterston Ave.
  • Brunch Hours: Daily 9:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

This adorable blue cottage turned all-day eatery is the sister business to one of Austin’s most sought-after reservations, the fine dining restaurant Jeffrey’s. Although you can enjoy brunch every day of the week, Josephine House is one of the cutest dining rooms to enjoy a slow Sunday brunch in Austin. You can’t go wrong with its infamous, extra fluffy lemon ricotta pancakes, served with fresh strawberries and maple syrup or Tex-Mex-style huevos rancheros. Load up on teacakes, scones, and croissants to build your own brunch at home.

2. Elizabeth Street Cafe

  • 1501 S 1st St.
  • Brunch Hours: Weekends 8 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

What better way to start your day than with a Vietnamese iced coffee — hot coffee dripped over a generous pour dollop of sweet condensed milk? Elizabeth Street Cafe is an iconic French-Vietnamese spot that serves brunch on the weekends. The mix of savory dishes (including dumplings, drunken noodles, and tofu crepes) and pastries (like almond croissants and mango and sticky rice) makes it ideal for big groups. Plus, there are fun kids’ dishes, like peanut butter, Nutella, and banana bánh mì, to fill the whole family’s tummies.

3. Launderette

  • 2115 Holly St.
  • Brunch Hours: Weekends 11 a.m.–2:15 p.m.

As the name entails, this East Austin hotspot is housed in a converted laundromat. But despite the hipster digs, Launderette is no gimmick. Austinites fill up the restaurant for its weekend brunches to grab a plate of elevated New American dishes. Start with a pull-apart cinnamon, apple, and pecan bun and your first cup of coffee before chowing down on diner favorites, like Texas hash with pork shoulder, biscuits with eggs and bacon, or a simple cheeseburger.

4. Café No Sé

This all-day restaurant is known by Austinites for its healthy-ish seasonal fare, including roasted beets tartine, quinoa bowls, and kimchi hash. After gathering inspiration for local produce, head to one of Landing’s favorite Austin farmers’ markets, like the nearby SFC Farmers’ Market in Downtown Austin or Sunset Valley.

Similar to Launderette, the Mattie’s brunch menu features twists on Southern classics, like milk punch french toast, biscuits with chorizo gravy, and fried chicken eggs Benedict.

Whatever you come for, you’ll find it on its weekend brunch menu. Fried chicken biscuits, buttermilk pancakes, and churro with spiced caramel sauce are always a hit. As the name promises, you can pair your midday meal with an alcoholic better half, like an Irish Coffee or cold brew with Fernet-Branca.
